An on-the-spot, low-cost diagnostic test for leptospirosis (Weil's disease), a bacterial infection recognised as a neglected disease by the World Health Organization, could save lives in developing countries where there is little or no access to medical pathology laboratories and specialist technicians.

Cambridge team receives 拢5 million to help GPs spot 鈥榙ifficult-to-diagnose鈥 cancers

Researchers in Cambridge are set to receive a 拢5m Cancer Research UK鈥檚 Catalyst Award to improve the early detection of cancers in GP surgeries. 探花直播CanTest team, led by Dr Fiona Walter from the 探花直播 of Cambridge, will work with researchers in three UK sites and across the globe on a five year project that will help GPs to detect cancers in a primary care setting, enabling patients to benefit from innovative approaches and new technologies, and reducing the burden of referrals.
