̽»¨Ö±²¥fifth Cambridge Festival has drawn to a triumphant close, having welcomed a record-breaking 45,000 visitors across 385 events during 17 inspiring days.

A recently rediscovered play, Not for a Cat: A Play for the Nuclear Age, will be premiering at the Cambridge Festival. The play was originally written in the 1950s by Wallace R. Harper, a student at the Cavendish Laboratory at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge in the 1920.

Over 500 KS2 and KS3 students from as far away as Warrington got the chance to experience studying at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge with a selection of lectures and workshops held as part of the Cambridge Festival. 

Dr Martin Reuhl is a Senior Lecturer in German Intellectual History in the Faculty of History and a ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Associate Professor in German History and Thought in the Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages & Linguistics at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge.

Dr Itab Shuayb is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Engineering Design Centre at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge. She is also a professor of inclusive design at the department of architecture and design at the American ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Beirut. An inclusive design specialist, access consultant and activist. She has led a number of architecture projects and awareness campaigns in Lebanon focusing on improving accessibility and promoting inclusive environments for diverse users.

Katherine Hasegawa is an emerging and independent Venezuelan ARTivist based in Cambridge. Since 2019, Katherine been using real money as an artistic tool to protest peacefully against acts of injustice.

Paul Bays is a Professor of Computation and Cognition in the Department of Psychology at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge. He investigates the nature of the internal representations our brains construct and sustain to interact with the world and the computations performed on them to achieve behavioural goals.

For International Women’s Day (8 March), the Cambridge Festival (19 March – 4 April) is celebrating some of the remarkable contributions of women across diverse fields. From philosophy and music to AI and cosmology, the festival will highlight the pioneering work of women who have shaped our understanding of the world in profound ways.

Hiranya Peiris holds the Professorship of Astronomy (1909) at Cambridge, the first woman to do so in the 115-year history of this prestigious chair. As a cosmologist, she delves into cosmic mysteries at the edge of our understanding, reaching back to the very first moments of the Universe after the Big Bang, often treading the path of high risk and high reward.

Charlotte Andrew is a PhD student in the Insect Biomechanics Group in the Department of Zoology. Her research explores the mechanical implications of weather conditions on insect trapping in carnivorous plants.
