Ms Anne Owers CBE, Her Majesty鈥檚 Chief Inspector of Prisons, is today being inducted as an Honorary Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College.

Ms Anne Owers CBE, Her Majesty鈥檚 Chief Inspector of Prisons, is today being inducted as an Honorary Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College.

Following her induction, Ms Owers will speak about her career in a talk entitled 'From Cambridge to Pentonville: 探花直播Work of a Chief Inspector of Prisons'.

Owers is the fifth holder of the post, and was appointed in August 2001, succeeding David Ramsbotham. She is an outspoken critic of overcrowding and poor conditions in Britain's jails.

She has considerable experience as a campaigner and human rights advisor to government. Prior to this post she was Director of JUSTICE, the all-party pressure group dubbed the "conscience" of the legal profession.

Lucy Cavendish, the all female college for mature students which was founded 42 years ago, now names among its Honorary Fellows actress Dame Judi Dench, former MI5 Dame Stella Rimington, writer Claire Tomalin, Baroness Perry of Southwark and 探花直播 Vice-Chancellor Professor Alison Richard.
