Cambridge Science Festival was delighted to win the听STEM Initiative of the Year 2019 supported by MathWorks听at the听Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards.听

Held at听The听Bradfield听Centre on Cambridge Science Park, the awards were supported by a stellar cast of sponsors and celebrated听the depth of science and technological talent across the Cambridge region.听With 15 categories, including two for individuals, the awards attracted a record number of entries.听

Cambridge Independent Editor Paul听Brackley, who hosted the awards, said: 鈥淚t was fantastic to celebrate the talent and innovation in our region. I would like to congratulate all our finalists, particularly our winners, and thank our sponsors for helping us to hold this uplifting event.鈥

Dr Lucinda Spokes, Cambridge Science Festival Manager, who received the award with Festival colleague Hannah Jackson听said听"Cambridge Science Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019. Growing from small beginnings, the 2019 Festival comprised 375 events - talks, hands-on activities, workshops, films, performances, tours and music - all open to the public and almost entirely free. As well as informing people about our research, the Festival allows us to have conversations with everyone and it is these conversations that are so valuable. They help shape and improve our听research and help people make informed choices and decisions about their own and their family's听lives. We hope too, that the Festival encourages young people to study science and technology and consider careers in these areas.听听
