Tiny copper 鈥榥ano-flowers鈥� have been attached to an artificial leaf to produce clean fuels and chemicals that are the backbone of modern energy and manufacturing.

Researchers have developed floating 鈥榓rtificial leaves鈥� that generate clean fuels from sunlight and water, and could eventually operate on a large scale at sea.

A widely-used gas that is currently produced from fossil fuels can instead be made by an 鈥榓rtificial leaf鈥� that uses only sunlight, carbon dioxide and water, and which could eventually be used to develop a sustainable liquid fuel alternative to petrol.
