Women aged 21 and over are invited to a free event at Lucy Cavendish College on Thursday, from 5 pm to 6.30 pm. Children are welcome to come along too and refreshments are provided.
探花直播event is aimed at women who are considering making changes in their lives, and is open to women of all ages and backgrounds, including those with few or no academic qualifications.
探花直播session will include mini-lectures on a range of topics and information about returning to study, whether to gain a vocational qualification or with the eventual goal of taking a degree.
探花直播session is being organised jointly by Sue Long, Outreach Officer at Lucy Cavendish College, and Penny Wilson, Head of Community Affairs at Cambridge 探花直播.
Sue鈥檚 commitment to education for mature students stems from her own experience. She went back into education after what she calls the 鈥渓ongest gap year in history鈥 and, after taking two courses at Cambridge Regional College, she applied to Cambridge to read history.
Since graduating she has worked to encourage other mature students to aim high.
鈥淎ge, background and the lack of qualifications are no barrier to returning to education - but can be a distinct advantage because of the skills, motivation and life experience we bring to our studies,鈥 says Sue.
Lucy Cavendish College, which accepts students aged 21 and over, is one of Cambridge鈥檚 three women-only colleges. Many of its students have returned to full-time study after a spell in the workplace or bringing up children, or are making career changes.
To book ahead contact Gaby Jones on 01223 330280, gj202@cam.ac.uk or Sue Long stl24@cam.ac.uk, or just turn up on the day. Children welcome and refreshments provided. Lucy Cavendish is located on Lady Margaret Road, Cambridge CB3 0BU.
