A mini-symposium at the Clinical School will explore the special issues that women may face in pursuing a successful career in science.
探花直播event, on Monday 23 February, will feature informal talks by a number of female scientists at different career stages, from bench scientists to women whose careers have used science in different ways, including science communication and science careers advice.
Those sharing their experiences include Professor Christine Holt, Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, Ireena Dutta, Communications Director, Hutchison/MRC Research Centre, Anne Forde, postdoctoral careers advisor, School of Life Sciences and Dr Esther Haines, Women in Science, Engineering and Technology Initiative Project Officer.
After the talks there will be a chance for informal discussions and sharing of experiences over tea and cakes in the Postgraduate Lounge at the Clinical School.
Anna Philpott, Reader in the Department of Oncology and organiser of the event, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to meet female scientists, hear how gender and family issues have and haven't affected their careers and to discuss issues that may affect you or your partner. You are not alone!"
探花直播event is for all, not only for female students and post-docs, who may be interested in these issues and how they may affect partners and families, either now or in the future.
探花直播symposium takes place in Lecture Theatre 2, 探花直播Clinical School, Addenbrookes Hospital from 2:15-3:45pm.
Please let Joanne Abayasekara know if you plan to attend, though not mandatory, at ja279@medschl.cam.ac.uk.
