A public debate to mark the end of the Emerging Technologies Entrepreneurship programme – a course where PhD and MBA students learn how to turn innovations into business opportunities – will take place on May 14.
ֱ̽debate is hosted by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) and is entitled: “Should inventors step up or step down from leading emerging technology start-ups?”
ֱ̽Emerging Technologies course aims to enable participants to understand how to assess the commercial feasibility of emerging technologies.
PhD students from the fields of Science and Technology joined forces with their MBA counterparts from Judge Business School to work on ‘real technologies’ which have come from within the ֱ̽ of Cambridge.
Dr Shima Barakat, Research and Teaching Fellow at CfEL, said: “This was a really special year and we hope it will be the start of a new model of participative entrepreneurial learning across disciplines.”
ֱ̽public debate aims to end the academic year on a high note for CfEL.
ֱ̽debate panel comprises four high profile speakers from different backgrounds and disciplines. It includes Jack Lang, Alex van Someren (both CfEL Entrepreneurs in Residence) and Geraldine Rodgers (Head of Seed Funds, Cambridge Enterprise Seed Funds) who will discuss the issue on the basis of two for and two against inventors leading enterprises. Four students will also take part on a similar basis.
ֱ̽debate runs from 2pm to 4pm at the Debating Chamber in Bridge Street. For further information and to book a place at the debate, please contact the CfEL team on 01223 766900 or email at cfel@jbs.cam.ac.uk
