探花直播 探花直播 of Cambridge was the only higher education finalist for the Client of the Year category at the Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards at London鈥檚 Grosvenor House Hotel on October 6.
From a record number of entries the 探花直播 was shortlisted alongside Blackpool Council and the Unite Group, a property developer and the eventual winner.
探花直播Award recognises construction clients who stand out as a model for others in the industry and who have shown leadership, innovation, strategic thinking and a long term commitment to fostering improvement.
探花直播 探花直播 of Cambridge currently has the largest higher education capital investment programme in the UK, with over 拢600 million of projects at various stages of design or construction. A programme of improvement and reform in its procurement of new buildings has led to 92% of its construction projects over the last four years completed on or below budget.
Six major construction projects were completed in 2004 with the 拢15 million Faculty of English and the 拢13 million Institute of Criminology on the Sidgwick Site, the 拢13 million Faculty of Education on Hills Road, the 拢9 million multi-storey car park at Addenbrooke鈥檚 Hospital, the 拢24 million Gurdon Institute on Tennis Court Road and the 拢21 million postgraduate accommodation blocks at West Cambridge.

Michael Bienias, who will be Acting Director from the beginning of December, said: 鈥淲e look forward to maintaining these same high standards with our ongoing construction programme, concentrating on the lifetime value and architectural quality of each building.鈥
David Adamson leaves his post as Director of Estate Management and Building Service at the end of November 2005 after seven years there. He will be joining the Office of Government Commerce on secondment as Director of Smarter Construction, charged with improving standards of construction procurement across the public sector. Michael Bienias takes over as Acting Director from December 1.
