Mr H.E Mohammed J. Al-Sager, chair of the Council for Arab and International Relations, will be giving a public lecture in Cambridge this evening(Thursday May 6).
ֱ̽talk, entitled “ ֱ̽Middle East, an untold story: Looking at the effects of the break up of the Soviet Union and 9/11” will take place at 5pm in ֱ̽Batemen Auditorium, Gonville and Caius College and will be free and open to all.
Mr. Al-Sager will offer a critical explanation of the changes in today's Middle East from both an Eastern and Western perspective, with Iran and its roles as the central issue in his lecture.
Mr. Al-Sager chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Kuwaiti parliament, to which he was elected in 1999, 2003, and 2006. From December 2005 to April 2009, he served as President of the Arab parliament. He has also played an important role in the drive toward women’s rights in Kuwait and is a member of the board of trustees of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
Founder of Al-Jareeda, a daily Kuwaiti Newspaper, he is also a former editor in chief of Al-Qabas (1983–1999) and sits on numerous boards of leading companies.
