Cambridge students will be competing with some of the sharpest minds from colleges and universities across the UK this coming Sunday in the national heat of an international quiz competition organised by the Tata group of companies.

Now in its third year, the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz UK 2010 will take place at 探花直播Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on Sunday 21 November starting at 2.30pm.

Tata Crucible seeks to bring together the sharpest young minds to take on the heat of a tough business quiz.

Any two students from the same college/university in the UK and above 18 years of age can form a team to participate. There is no entry fee and some places are still available.

All the teams will be subjected to a written elimination round of 20-25 questions at the start. Out of these, eight top teams will go through to six rounds of live quiz questions .

探花直播rounds will consist of questions from the world of international business and economics, including corporates, personalities, brands and markets. 探花直播emphasis in the questions is not on the obvious, but lon ateral thinking and associations.

探花直播Quiz made its debut in India in 2004-05 and has now become an annual event.

Tata Crucible Campus Quiz made its international debut with the Singapore edition in 2007. 探花直播UK event was launched in 2008.

探花直播quiz will be conducted by the renowned Indian quizmaster Giri "Pickbrain" Balasubramaniam. He and his team have presented close to 1000 shows across 48 destinations in India, Sri Lanka, Oman, Singapore, London and the USA.

探花直播winning team will receive a cash prize of 拢4,000, the first runner-up team听 拢2,000, and the second runner-up team 拢1,500.

探花直播winning team will also get an opportunity of a summer internship with a Tata company, and will qualify for the international Tata Crucible final, to be held later in India.

Tata companies operate in seven business sectors: communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals. Today Tata is also the largest foreign investor in UK industry.

Company pioneer Sir Dorabji Tata studied at Gonville and Caius College in the 19th century, and in 1920 gave a substantial benefaction towards a new building for the Department of Engineering. Today the links between Tata and Cambridge remain strong, highlighted recently by the endowment of the Tata Steel Professorship of Metallurgy in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy.
