Nominations this year include six Cambridge entries across the 18 categories available.

Sam Chamberlain and Danielle Turner, both working within the Department of Psychiatry, find themselves in competition with each other for the coveted Young Researcher of the Year Award.

“It is very exciting to have been short-listed for such a prestigious award,” said Danielle. “And it’s important to acknowledge the tremendous support received from supervisors and colleagues and to thank the many volunteers and patients who gave so generously of their time to help with the research.”

Also nominated is Ruth Scurr in the Young Academic Author category, for her recent publication ‘Fatal Purity: Robespierre and the French Revolution.’

̽��ֱ��Cambridge Institute for Medical Research is cited for its outstanding contribution to innovation and technology, based on the work of Damian Crowther and a team of scientists who are among the first to use fruit flies in their research into Alzheimer’s disease.

̽��ֱ��Times Higher Awards are not only limited to individuals or research groups. Cambridge has been included in a list of ten universities voted Best Student Experience by students from around the UK.

A former Cambridge academic, Professor Lisa Jardine has been short-listed for a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Professor Jardine is popularly known for her work with Radio 4, being a regular contributor to ‘Start the Week’, ‘In Our Time’ and ‘A Point of View.’

She started her academic career at Cambridge, first as an undergraduate, then later becoming the first woman fellow of Jesus College. She has written 14 books and over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

She is currently Centenary Professor of Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary, ̽��ֱ�� of London, an honorary fellow of King’s College, Cambridge, and was recently elected honorary fellow of Jesus College.

̽��ֱ��award winners will be revealed on November 15 at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.
