̽»¨Ö±²¥ ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge's Director of the Language Centre, Anny King, is to head the Regional Centre, involving both Cambridge ̽»¨Ö±²¥ and Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥, to bring continuing professional development to language teachers in schools and colleges. This is a continuation of the successful partnership already existing between Cambridge ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Language Centre and the Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Language Centre, headed by Annie Morgan-James, within the Routes into Languages project.
Links into Languages is a £7 million programme funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), and led by a team in the Subject Centre for Language, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS). This is a significant national programme which aims to have considerable impact in the teaching of languages across the secondary sector.
Links into Languages East is one of nine centres across England, all based at universities, where language professionals can access development courses and training. ̽»¨Ö±²¥East of England Regional Centre will also provide facilities for meetings and a library of the latest resources at both Cambridge ̽»¨Ö±²¥ and Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥.
̽»¨Ö±²¥new centre will be based at both the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥ and will be under the direction of Anny King of Cambridge ̽»¨Ö±²¥.
Mrs King, together with Annie Morgan-James, Director of the Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Language Centre will launch East of England Regional Centre on Tuesday 30 June 2009 at Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥.
Mrs King said: ‘I am delighted that we have been chosen as the East of England Regional Centre. ̽»¨Ö±²¥Launch will celebrate the good work that has been happening in Cambridge over the last 10 years, both at Homerton College (where the first Regional Centre was established) and Anglia Ruskin ̽»¨Ö±²¥ (for the last 5 years) and will highlight how Cambridge intends to continue building strong links with schools, LEAs and FE Colleges to support teachers and learners.’
Annie Morgan-James said: ‘We are pleased to once again be working in partnership with Cambridge ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Language Centre to continue our involvement in supporting and promoting language learning in the Region.’
