For the first time, the 探花直播 will join the City Council and others for a series of public events taking place this February to mark national LGBT History Month.

Academics at the 探花直播 will be discussing some of the work they have been doing in collaboration with the LGBT community and Lucy Cavendish College will be hosting talks by visiting speakers.

探花直播Civic Launch of events, taking place on Tuesday 19, will include a discussion on Faith and Sexuality, with a representative from Stonewall and Rev. Dr. Fraser Watts, Starbridge Lecturer in Theology and Science at Cambridge and Director of the Psychology and Christianity Project.

Dr. Watts is chaplain at St. Edward's Church, which recently held the first of a series of talks on religion and sexuality. He has also dealt with these issues both in his capacity as a chaplain and as an academic, having spent several years lecturing on sexual ethics at Cambridge's Divinity faculty.

Susan Golombok, Cambridge's Professor of Family Research, and Director of the 探花直播's Centre for Family Research, will be delivering a lecture on her three decades of research into lesbian and gay families on Wednesday 6.

Professor Golombok is extensively involved in this area, which was the subject of her PhD. In 1989 she founded the Family and Child Psychology Research Centre at City 探花直播, London to carry out research on parenting and child development in new family forms and she has advised the Department of Health on issues regarding assisted reproduction and lesbian mother families.

On Tuesday 12, a lecture on gay and lesbian portrayal in mainstream cinema will be given at Lucy Cavendish College by Keith Lodwick, curator in the theatre section of the Victoria & Albert Museum. His talk will examine representations of gay people from the silent era to contemporary movies, focusing on both British and Hollywood productions.

Lucy Cavendish will host a talk on Cambridge 探花直播's Gay Past on Wednesday 20, delivered by Graeme Grant, who recently wrote an article on the same subject for Cambridge's alumni magazine.

探花直播 探花直播 recently joined Stonewall's Diversity Champions Scheme, following a lecture delivered in October last year by Ben Summerskill, the organisation's Chief Executive.

探花直播Diversity Champions programme is a good practice forum, allowing employers to work with Stonewall and each other to promote lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality at work. Best practices, networking opportunities and research are offered to members.

In addition, the 探花直播 recently set up an LGBT Network, open to all LGBT members of Departments, Faculties, Colleges and Units. Those interested in joining, with queries, or wishing to subscribe to its mailing list are encouraged to email Jenny Woodhouse at jw10001@admin.cam.ac.uk

Times and locations for all the events can be found on Cambridge City Council's website (see sidebar), where any late news will also be posted. 探花直播talks and the civic launch are all free and refreshments will be provided.
