Three Indian Postgraduate students have begun their PhD studies at St John鈥檚 College, Cambridge this term as Dr Manmohan Singh Scholars.

Parama Ghoshall is studying for a PhD in Chemical Engineering while Nishit Srivastava and Sudhir Rama Murthy will do their research in Engineering.

They are the latest beneficiaries of the full scholarship programme launched in the Prime Minister of India鈥檚 name in 2007. It is exclusively for Indian students based in India when they apply for PhD and MPhil degrees at St John鈥檚 College in areas such as science and technology, economics and social sciences.

St John鈥檚 College, where Dr Singh studied for a First in Economics in the late 1950s, is now inviting applications for Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships starting study in Autumn 2013. Three scholarships worth 拢35,000 each are available.

探花直播Scholarships will be awarded on merit to outstanding applicants.

探花直播BP Foundation is the principal sponsor of this year鈥檚 programme. Rolls Royce India and Tata and Sons have sponsored it previously.

探花直播programme is administered by the British Council in New Delhi. A selection committee will be set up in India to make recommendations to the college regarding the profile of applicants.
