探花直播trip has been arranged to coincide with the visit of the Vice-Chancellor, Alison Richard, who is leading a delegation to strengthen historic links between the university and the sub-continent nation.
探花直播14-strong Cambridge 探花直播 Cricket Club (CUCC)听squad will play two matches in Delhi and four in Mumbai on their 10-day tour, with the Vice-Chancellor and her party due to attend two of the games.
CUCC Chief Coach Chris Scott said: 鈥淚ndia is a cricket-mad nation and we are expecting the opposition to be strong. We have quite a busy schedule with six games in 10 days and we are heading a little bit into the unknown.鈥
He added: 鈥淚t will be nice to have the Cambridge 探花直播 guys together for 10 days with no distractions from exams or studying.鈥
探花直播Blues, who will be managed by club president Roger Knight, will have the honour of playing at three of the most prestigious grounds in the country 鈥 the Bombay Gymkhana, the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
The听strong squad includes most of the players who won the annual four-day varsity match against Oxford 探花直播 Cricket Club last year. Mr Scott said: 鈥淲e have lost our main strike bowler but we will still have a good squad for the tour. We have an experienced batting line-up and our captain, Akbar Ansari, did very well with the bat last season.鈥
There is an historic link between Cambridge 探花直播 cricket and India going back to the late 19th century, when Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji studied at Trinity College. Both he and his nephew, Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, won cricket Blues at Cambridge 探花直播 before going on to play for Sussex and England. Another Cambridge alumnus Mohammad Jahangir Khan went on to captain India in the late 30s.
Cambridge 探花直播 CC has provided several England Test captains, including Tony Lewis, who will be in India to follow the tour.
