Judge Business School听will launch the Centre for India & Global Business today at an event in New Delhi.

Professor Jaideep Prabhu (pictured),听the first Jawaharlal Nehru Professor of Indian Business and Enterprise at the 探花直播 of Cambridge, gave the first of four inaugural lectures in the Indian capital today, before moving on to Bangalore and then Mumbai.

Professor Prabhu will use these lectures as an opportunity to announce the Centre, established with financial support from the BP Foundation. 探花直播Centre will be devoted to the study of India鈥檚 leading role in the global economy with a vision to serve as a collaborative platform that engages multiple stakeholders from India, the UK and other countries.

In his lecture today Professor Prabhu will address senior policy-makers, diplomats and elected officials. He will identify the opportunities and challenges facing India in its quest to emerge as a global research and development hub.

In Bangalore tomorrow he will address Indian and multinational corporate leaders on how they should lead their firms during a recession by fostering a sustainable culture of innovation.

Finally, Professor Prabhu will deliver two lectures in Mumbai on Thursday and Friday, which will revisit the theme of corporate innovation but also explore how India can speed up its innovation-led growth by strengthening academic-industry collaboration.

Commenting on the launch of the new Centre, Professor Jaideep Prabhu said: 鈥淚ndia stands today at a threshold of greatness. Its young population combined with its service economy predisposes it to play an important role in the global knowledge economy of tomorrow.

鈥 探花直播Centre for India & Global Business, based at Judge Business School, at the heart of Cambridge 探花直播, aims to generate cutting-edge thought leadership by bringing together business, academic and policy leaders from around the world to understand, promote and engage with Indian innovators. 探花直播Centre鈥檚 vision is to become a World Knowledge Platform for creating and disseminating cutting-edge practices and insights related to India and innovation.鈥

探花直播Centre for India & Global Business will conduct research and collaborate with key partners in three areas: How and why the world鈥檚 largest multinationals are increasingly locating their global R&D and innovation activities in India and other emerging countries; how Indian firms are going global and moving up the value chain; and how firms and other organisations are engaging with those who live on less than $1 a day, the 鈥榖ottom of the pyramid鈥, through innovative products, services and business models.

Professor Prabhu is accompanied on this tour by Professor Arnoud De Meyer, Director, Judge Business School and the newly appointed Executive Director of the Centre for India & Global Business, Navi Radjou, who was previously Vice-President at Forrester Research, a leading US-based technology research and consulting firm, where he investigated how globalised innovation is driving new market structures.
