Organised by the ̽��ֱ��’s Office of Community Affairs and the Cambridge Evening News, the walk takes in several colleges, allowing local people to see parts of the city normally off-limits to the public.

Starting at Jesus Green, the route ran through St John’s College, New Hall, Churchill College, Darwin College, St Catharine’s College, Emmanuel College and Sidney Sussex College, then passing through Jesus College to the finish line.

Mayor Of Cambridge Cllr Robert Dryden sounded the horn to set the walkers off, many of whom were in fancy dress.

Balloon-carrying walkers soon flooded the city’s streets and colleges.

Head of Community Affairs Penny Wilson said: “It was a fantastic day bringing together town and gown and raising lots of money for charity. I’d like to say a special thank you to the colleges who opened their doors, to the Mayor and to all those who took part.”

̽��ֱ��charities set to benefit this year are the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, the Papworth Trust and the Cambridge Evening News Press Relief charity fund.
