A highly successful Enterprise Tuesday series of lectures culminated in an award ceremony last week at Judge Business School attended by recipients of the prestigious 鈥欌楥ertificate in Enterprise鈥.

Enterprise Tuesday is a series of free evening lectures and networking sessions run by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), part of Judge Business School, from October to February each year. 探花直播aim is to inspire people to pursue entrepreneurial ambitions and build basic business skills.

This has proved to be the busiest programme yet, with a 38% increase in registered attendance on the 06/07 series and an average of around 300 people attending each of the twelve lectures.

Professor Arnoud De Meyer, Director Judge Business School, presented the certificates in front of an audience including CfEL Director Dr Shai Vyakarnam, other academic staff, programme contributors and sponsors. In total, 59 people were awarded the certificate with 11 gaining distinctions for the quality of their assignments.

探花直播winner of the overall prize for the best submission was F谩bio Monteiro, an MBA student at the UWIC Cardiff School of Management who also founded an IT business, Key One Informatica, in his native Brazil seven years ago.

F谩bio is extremely pleased to receive the award and recommends the programme for aspiring entrepreneurs: 鈥淥ne of the biggest challenges in your business career is to turn academic knowledge into business opportunities. Enterprise Tuesday overcomes this paradigm by the astonishing lecturers who teach by example. As an entrepreneur, this programme has driven me to achieve the right balance of skill and helped me to expand my network. Ultimately, I recommend Enterprise Tuesday for everyone that dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. So, don't miss this opportunity, run and grab a place! 鈥

探花直播Certificate in Enterprise requires the candidates to prepare a portfolio on the learning and insights created by attending the Enterprise Tuesday lectures. This year, the number of entries doubled. Arun Muthirulan, MBA graduate of the Judge Business School and chief examiner, commented on this year鈥檚 submissions: 鈥 探花直播consistently high standard of the portfolios indicate the level of passion and interest shown by the candidates. Discussing a variety of entrepreneurial ideas to create promising businesses, from high technology to lifestyle ideas and social enterprises, the portfolios offered a fascinating glimpse of the current entrepreneurial thinking in Cambridge and beyond.鈥

During the last year, people have travelled from Cranfield, London, Manchester, Wales and even from Finland to attend lectures by speakers such as Karren Brady of Birmingham FC, Lord Karan Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Duncan Goose of One Water.

More than a quarter of the registered attendees are from the local business community which is around a 5% increase on last year. One of the key benefits of the programme is that it brings the academic and business communities together, adding to the chemistry in the networking sessions which follow on from each lecture.

探花直播next Enterprise Tuesday series starts in October 2008. Further information about the programme can be found on the Enterprise Tuesday pages of the CfEL web site linked above right.
