Professor Trevor Robbins FRS, Head of the Department of Experimental Psychology at the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ of Cambridge, has been chosen to give the prestigious Fred Kavli Distinguished International Scientist Lecture at the Society of Neuroscience’s 35th annual meeting on Sunday November 13.
Professor Robbins’s lecture, titled ‘Translational Models for Treating Cognitive Dysfunction in Neuropsychiatric and Neurodegenerative Disorders’, will highlight the difficulties of producing treatments for cognitive deficits and will explore the possibilities of treating some of these disorders using so-called cognitive enhancing drugs.
In addition to his role as Head of the Department, Professor Robbins is the Director of the Cambridge MRC-Wellcome Trust Behavioural and Clinical Neuroscience Institute (BCNI). ̽»¨Ö±²¥BCNI has been funded to develop research collaborations in the ̽»¨Ö±²¥ between basic neuroscientists and the Clinical School in the areas of mental health disorders and neurological diseases.
̽»¨Ö±²¥Society of Neuroscience’s 35th annual meeting, to be held in Washington, DC, from November 12-16, will be attended by more than 30,000 scientists from all over the world. ̽»¨Ö±²¥event will provide a forum for scientists to discuss the latest developments in brain and nervous system research.
